Cinema&Gioventù is back again this year: the youth jury organised and coordinated by the Castellinaria Young Film Festival during the Locarno Film Festival, from 4 to 16 August 2026. The 20 young participants, divided into three different juries, are set to experience the 79th edition of Locarno as true protagonists. A unique opportunity to meet, discuss and exchange views with peers and with directors, actors and producers in a privileged setting. There will also be educational sessions on cinematic language with industry experts and opportunities to explore our region. What is it about? Through Cinema & Youth, participants take part in the Locarno Film Festival as jury members and learn to develop a critical eye for film through workshops on cinematic language and meetings with industry experts.
C&G is an opportunity to experience the Festival as key players, meeting, discussing and exchanging views with peers and with directors, actors and producers in a privileged setting. Who can enroll? Anyone aged between 18 (inclusive!) and 23, from Switzerland or abroad, with a keen interest in cinema, is welcome to apply.
A good knowledge of Italian, French and English, or at least two of these languages, is required. When and where does it take place?
From 4 to 16 August 2026, in Locarno during the Locarno Film Festival.
What does it involve?
• attending Festival screenings
• being part of one of the three youth juries: International Competition, Cineasti del presente, Pardi di domani and Open Doors Shorts
• You will evaluate the films and award cash prizes
• You will take part in meetings with directors, producers, actors and film professionals
• You will collaborate with radio, television and newspapers to write articles about the Festival and the films in the programme
• You will take part in the social life of the Festival and all its surrounding events
• You will enjoy a community experience with young people of the same age from various backgrounds
How much does it cost?
The registration fee is CHF 500. The deadline for paying the registration fee is 12 June 2026, via e-banking. |
