Dörte Schneider Garcia explores intersections between humans, the environment, cinema and the ecological crisis. Her talk will examine the environmental footprint of film production – both in traditional formats and in energy-intensive digital workflows – and propose comprehensive “green production” strategies that span the entire filmmaking process, from script development to post-production. She will also introduce the concept of green storytelling: an approach that adapts non-essential elements of a narrative to reduce environmental impact, all without sacrificing creative integrity. Drawing on examples from well-known films, she will illustrate the principles and practical plans behind sustainable filmmaking. Finally, Dörte Schneider Garcia will present a range of tools and training programs designed to help integrate sustainability into the daily practices of the audiovisual sector.
