Traveling with augmented reality in the localities of the Canton Ticino used as a backdrop for national and international films.

136 films have been set in the Canton Ticino since 1915. This is the figure reported by a cantonal database in which they are cata­logued.
When we went through the list of films, we were amazed and fascinated by the variety of stories, genres and places in which they were shot.
Together with the Ticino Film Commission, which since 2014 has been encouraging and supporting the making of international and national films on our territory, Castellinaria wishes to show a reality that not everyone knows.
There are about twenty films that the public is invited to “see” thanks to a special app of augmented reality. From the iconic James Bond that jumps from the Verzasca dam, to the local stories of Frontaliers Disaster. From a real lion strolling through the old town of Locarno, to an authentic Bollywood dance on the walls of Castelgrande.
On display there will be posters and stage photos that, once framed with a smartphone, will reveal some scenes shot in the cities and in the most evocative places of the Canton.

TICINO FILM COMMISSION
Have you ever met a film crew on the streets of Ticino? Have you ever wondered what they do, and above all, how all this is organized? The Ticino Film Commission is a non-profit organization which, on behalf of the Department of Finance and Economics of the Canton Ticino, helps foreign and local productions to shoot their products around our territory, with the aim of creating economic benefits and making Ticino known through audiovisual means.
Among its various tasks, the Film Commission helps to find the right location for the different projects, managing permits and authorizations, and this requires a patient and widespread work in contact with the territory.

As part of the exhibition LOCATION TICINO, about Ticino locations, organized with a collaboration between Castellinaria and the Ticino Film Commission, we propose you to play with us and discover how a film commissioner works behind the scenes. Through a card game, created on purpose, everyone can try to organize a film shooting by choo­sing the most suitable, beautiful or curious locations in Ticino, and discovering the secrets of an audiovisual production.
