The Festival's theaters: Espocentro, Forum Bellinzona, Plaza Mendrisio, Teatro Chiasso, Leventina Airolo, Lux art house Massagno, Blenio Acquarossa theatre, Soazza cultural centre, Gran Rex Locarno. President: Att. Flavia Marone, Artistic Director: Giancarlo Zappoli. Competition 6-15: 8 feature films; Competition 16-20: 8 feature films; Competition Castellincorto: 10 short films; Piccola Rassegna "Swiss Films for the Younger": 2 feature films; Out of competition: 9 feature films and 20 short films. The exhibitions, WHAT EFFECT DOES!, dedicated to the special effects in cinema, ateliers and masterclasses on animated cinema, and 50 YEARS OF GSFA. Workshop with Craig Caton-Largent on 3D animation, at SUPSI and USI, atelier "Si gira"; production of 3 short films written and made by students of secondary and high schools in the Canton, under the guidance of REC. The atelier of film criticism hosted Giancarlo Zappoli, film journalist and artistic director of the Festival.

Thirtieth edition of Castellinaria Festival internazionale del cinema giovane Bellinzona.

From Nov. 18 to Nov. 25, 2017. 30th Edition's patrons: Maurizio Nichetti and Michel Fuzellier. Festival theatres: Espocentro, Forum Bellinzona, Plaza Mendrisio, Teatro Chiasso, Leventina Airolo, Lux Massagno, Teatro Blenio Acquarossa, Soazza Cultural Centre, Arbedo Cultural Centre. President: Gino Buscaglia, Artistic Director: Giancarlo Zappoli. 6–15 competition: 8 feature films;16-20 competition: 8 feature films; Castellincorto competition: 9 short films; Piccola Rassegna “So close, so far“: compilation of short films from Fantoche Festival; out of competition: 10 feature films and 17 short films. The exhibitions : 30 VERY ANIMATED YEARS! devoted to animated cinema, workshops and masterclasses on animated cinema, and LAHZA 2, the pictures taken by Syrian children in refugee camps in Lebanon. Workshop “Si gira“, 5 short films written and shot by the pupils of middle and high schools of Ticino. Meeting One-to-One: directors meet producers. Cinema critics workshop has been led by Moira Bubola, cultural journalist of RSI Radiotelevisione svizzera. Castellinaria has once again the patronage of UNICEF.

Festival’s venues: Espocentro, cinema Forum Bellinzona, cinema Plaza Mendrisio, cinema Teatro Chiasso, cinema Leventina Airolo, Lux Massagno, Cinema Teatro Blenio Acquarossa, Biblioteca Soazza. President: Gino Buscaglia, Artistic Director: Giancarlo Zappoli. Competition 6-15: 8 feature films; Competition 16-20: 8 feature films; Competition Castellincorto: 16 short films; Piccola Rassegna “Reading a book”: 2 feature films; hors concours: 9 feature films and 12 short films. The exhibitions were devoted to the special effects in movie make-up and to Luigi Comencini pictures. Third edition of the event Meeting One-to-One: young directors meet Swiss and European producers. Marco Zucchi, journalist at RSI Radiotelevisione svizzera, has led film criticism workshop. Fourth edition of the workshop “Action!”: shooting of 5 short films written and realized by students of different schools of the Ticino Canton, mentored by REC. Castello of Honor to Bruno Bozzetto.

Festival’s venues: Espocentro, cinema Forum Bellinzona, cinema Plaza Mendrisio, cinema Teatro Chiasso, cinema Leventina Airolo, Lux Massagno, Cinema Teatro Blenio Acquarossa, Biblioteca Soazza.. President: Gino Buscaglia, Artistic Director: Giancarlo Zappoli. Competition 6-15: 8 feature films; Competition 16-20: 8 feature films; Competition Castellincorto: 13 short films; Piccola Rassegna “We respect Nature”: 3 feature films; hors concours: 7 feature films and 11 short films. The exhibition was devoted to E. Rancati props. Second edition of the event Meeting One-to-One: young directors meet Swiss and European producers. Annamaria Pasetti, journalist at Il Fatto Quotidiano, has led film criticism workshop. Third edition of the workshop “Action!”: shooting of 5 short films written and realized by students of different schools of the Ticino Canton, mentored by REC. First edition of the partnership with the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia - sede Lombardia in order to create films which provide a creative testimony to the activities of the Bellinzona International Cinema Festival: 8 videos has been shooted by the second grade students.

2014

Twenty-seventh edition of Castellinaria, international young film festival Bellinzona. From November 15th to November 22th, 2014. Festival’s venues: Espocentro, cinema Forum Bellinzona, cinema Plaza Mendrisio, cinema Leventina Airolo, Lux Massagno, Cinema Teatro Blenio Acquarossa, cinema Morettina Locarno, Centro Culturale Soazza, Centro Culturale Arbedo. President: Gino Buscaglia, Artistic Director: Giancarlo Zappoli. Competition 6-15: 8 feature films; Competition 16-20: 8 feature films; Competition Castellincorto: 11 short films; Piccola Rassegna “100 years Charlot”: 3 feature films; hors concours: 12 feature films and 11 short films. The exhibition, mounted at Bellinzona’s Castelgrande, was devoted to pre-cinema:  a journey to discover the optical plays and devices that preceded and accompanied the birth of the Lumière brothers’ motion pictures. First edition of the event Meeting One-to-One: young directors meet Swiss and European producers. Christian Jungen, editor-in-chief of the film section of Neue Zurcher Zeitung, has led film criticism workshop. Second edition of the workshop “Action!”: shooting of 5 short films written and realized by students of different schools of the Ticino Canton, mentored by REC. Screenwriting workshop led by Marianna Cappi. animaBIRIKI workshop with Ilaria Turba and Bruna Ferrazzini.

2013

Twenty-sixth edition of the Castellinaria, the international young people’s film festival in Bellinzona, November 16 to 23. Theaters of the Festival: Espocentro, Cinema Forum e Ideal Bellinzona; Sala Morettina Locarno; Cinema Leventina Airolo; Cinema Teatro Mendrisio; Centro Culturale Soazza; Cinema Lux Massagno; Cinema Teatro Blenio Acquarossa. President: Gino Buscaglia, Artistic director: Giancarlo Zappoli. Both competitions 6 -15 and 16-20 present 8 feature films each. 13 short films in Castellincorto competition. Twenty-one feature films and shortfilms screened hors concours. The Piccola Rassegna "Films... to read" is devoted to films based on books.The exhibit is devoted to Sir Quentin Blake who's illustrated most of Roald Dahl's books. Workshop on cinema trades: the movie set. Special prize to Xavier Koller.

Twenty-fith edition of the Castellinaria, the international young people’s film festival in Bellinzona, November 17 to 25 at the Espocentro, cinema Forum and Ideal in Bellinzona. President: Gino Buscaglia, Artistic director: Giancarlo Zappoli. 8 feature films in 6-15 section and 8 in the 16-20. Piccola Rassegna is devoted to "cinema's best friend: the dog". 13 film in competition, coming from cinema schools all over the world. Twelve films screened hors concours. Exhibit is dedicated to Fusako Yusaki's works. The atelier on cinema professions focused on scenography and is led by Fabrizio Nicora.

2011

Twenty-forth edition of Castellinaria, the international young people’s film festival in Bellinzona, November 12 to 19, 2011 at the Espocentro, cinema Forum and Ideal in Bellinzona. President: Gino Buscaglia, Artistic director: Giancarlo Zappoli. Competition presents 8 feature films in 6-15 section and 8 in the 16-20. Piccola Rassegna is devoted to the writer Winnie The Pooh. Castellincorto competition presents 14 shorts. 13 films out of competition. Workshop on cinema trades, leaded by Studio Bozzetto & Co., focuses on graphic computer and animation. The exhibition is devoted to Mickey Mouse. Fabrizio Bentivoglio awarded with Castello d'Onore.

23rd Edition

2010

Twenty-third edition onf the Castellinaria, the international young people’s film festival in Bellinzona, November 13 to 20, 2010 at the Espocentro, cinema Forum and Ideal in Bellinzona. President: Gino Buscaglia, Artistic director: Giancarlo Zappoli. Competition presents 8 feature films in 6-15 section and 8 in the 16-20. 15 short films in castellincorto Competition and 12 feature films out of competition. Piccola Rassegna is devoted to the writer Gianni Rodari and is part of the project "A hundred cities for Gianni Rodari" exhibiting 70 illustration of the great writer's work. The lifetime achievement Award is bestowed to director Pupi Avati.

2009

Twenty-second edition of the Castellinaria, the international young people’s film festival in Bellinzona, November 14 to 21 at the Espocentro, cinema Forum and Indeal in Bellinzona. President: Gino Buscaglia, Artistic director: Giancarlo Zappoli. Competitions present 8 feature films in 6-15 section and 8 in the 16-20. Piccola Rassegna devoted to Pippi Longstocking created by Astrid Lidgren. Short films evening presents 15 shorts in competition . Nine films screened hors concours.  Amnesty International exhibit devoted to: "Defenders. Tenacious testimony". (In the picture: Marcus H. Twenty-first edition of the Castellinaria, the international young people’s film festival in Bellinzona, November 15 to 22 at the Espocentro and at cinema Forim and Ideal in Bellinzona. President: Franco Lazzarotto, Artistic director: Giancarlo Zappoli. The competition presents 8 feature films in 6-15 section and 8 in the 16-20. Piccola Rassegna is devoted to Czech cinematography: La piccola Talpa e Sindbad. Short films evening screens 15 shorts in competition. President: Franco Lazzarotto, Artistic director: Giancarlo Zappoli, 8 feature films cometing in 6-15 section, 8 feature films competing in the 16-20, 7 short films and 1 feature film in the section Piccola Rassegna devoted to Silly Symphonies, 4 programs of short films in competition. Nineteenth edition of the Castellinaria, the international young people’s film festival in Bellinzona, November 18 to 25 at the Espocentro. President: Franco Lazzarotto. Artisti Director: Giancarlo Zappoli, 8 feature films competing in 6-15 section, 8 lfeature films competing in the 16-20, 4 feature films in the Piccola Rassegna devoted to Enzo D'Alò. Retrospective "The youth in the South Korean new millennium cinema" 7 feature films, 19 short films in competition. Exhibit "I am unique and preciuos", for the prevention of sexual abuse of children organized by 'ASPI, exhibit «A Piece for Peace», works on peace made by students from all over Switzerland. Retrospective : Edgar Reitz’s “Heimat 3”. 8 feature films hors concours, 8 short films 14 hors concours. Castello d’Onore honoring the career of Edgar Reitz, filmmaker, and Christorpher Lee, actor. Luigi Comencini retrospective (7 feature films). “Linguaggio e immaginario del cinema svizzero d’animazione”: 20 short subjects accompanied by an exhibit curated by Gruppo Svizzero del Film d’Animazione (GSFA).

First edition of the Film Festival Ragazzi in Bellinzona, September 18 to 23 at the Forum cinema. President: Sergio Barenco. Art director: Ambrogio Pellegrini. 14 films competing. 4 films in the context of a tribute to Bruno Bozzetto, to whom an exhibit was also dedicated. Publication of the booklet “Introduzione al linguaggio cinematografico” by Gino Buscaglia. Special guest: actress Giulietta Masina, Unicef ambassadress.
