Francesco Rizzi

Born in Mendrisio, Francesco Rizzi is a writer and director from Ticino. After studying Italian Literature and Art History at the University of Fribourg, he graduated in Film Direction at the NUCT in Rome (Cinecittà). His debut feature film Cronofobia (2018) was selected in about thirty international festivals, including Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (Special Jury Prize), Max Ophüls Preis (Best Director and Best Screenplay Award), BAFICI - Buenos Aires, Edinburgh International Film Festival, Hong Kong International Film Festival, ZFF - Zurich, Locarno 72, winning numerous awards.
Nicola Bernasconi 
Born in 1973, raised in Lugano, Nicola Bernasconi studied Literature in Lausanne and Cinema in Milan. Between 2006 and 2012 he worked for the Ventura Film company. In 2014 he founded his own production company, Rough Cat, with which he produced documentaries and fiction films including Stella Ciao by Vito Robbiani (Solothurn Film Festival 2015, Prix du Public section), Tutto l'oro che c'è by Andrea Caccia (IFF Rotterdam 2019, Karlovy Vary IFF) and the fiction feature film I segreti del mestiere by Andreas Maciocci. He studied visual arts and cinema history in Lausanne, before attending a directing course in London, where he lived for five years. He works in film production and distribution and as a video-maker, with a particular interest in animation and motion graphics. In 2014 he joined the programming office team of the Locarno Film Festival where, since 2018, he is in charge of the Pardi di domani competition, the official short film section. |
