Ingeborg Bachmann was the poet who conquered the hitherto male-dominated territory of German-language literature. We find her still young but already at the peak of her career when she meets the famous Zurich writer Max Frisch. Theirs is initially a passionate relationship, but professional and personal disagreements gradually take over. Ingeborg finds support in her friend, the composer Hans Werner Henze, and the young Viennese scholar Adolf Opel.
